Welcome to Stone's Throw Church. Our desire is to glorify God because of his mission to restore us through the work of Jesus Christ. This shapes who we are, what we do, and how we do it.
We're not perfect, but we serve a God who is. We hope you'll find out more about us on these pages and then consider becoming part of our church as we learn, grow, and serve together.
We're a portable church that currently meets on Sunday at 10:30am at Appoquinimink High School
a few miles west of downtown Middletown, DE.
There's ample parking and we use the entrance on the side of the building.
What To Expect
Our goal is to be a friendly, laid-back church that is passionate about learning about who Jesus Christ is and what it means to "be a people" made possible by his redeeming work.
Each week we gather to corporately worship and here's what you can expect:
- Greeters - We like to meet everyone that comes our way whether they're out of town visiting or hoping to find a home. Our greeters can be found in the parking lot, by the doors, at the welcome table, and just wandering around wearing special lanyards and would love to meet you!
- Preaching - Our preaching is gospel-centered every week and we go through various sermon series that range from the Gospels, books of the Old Testament, and topical issues (e.g. marriage, common religious questions, etc).
- Worship - We respond to the Word as a body by worshipping with modern, energetic music with many new arrangements of old hymns.
- Children - We have children's programs for infants through 5th grade during our gathering. They play games, take part in crafts, have a teaching lesson, sing, and more.
Our main focus throughout the week is on small groups called Community Groups that meet in people's homes for fellowship, care, accountability, and study. These small pockets of community are
the primary means of discipleship for us and are an essential part of our mission. You can find one close to you by speaking with anyone at the welcome table on Sunday mornings. Additionally, the youth (6th-12th grade) meet throughout the year on Fridays nights.
